Dr. Matt Chavoustie
Full-time on-site Optometrist
Originally from the 1000 Islands Region of New York State, Dr. Chavoustie moved to the GTA to be closer to his wife’s family in Hamilton. He has been providing the Burlington community with exceptional eye care for the last 15 years.
Dr. Chavoustie completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Oswego in 2004, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. Following his time in Oswego, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the prestigious New England College of Optometry in 2009. This is also where he met his wife, fellow optometrist, Dr. Anjali Pathak.
During his final-year rotations, Dr. Chavoustie was sent from coast to coast and was exposed to a great variety of clinical settings. His training focused on fitting specialty contact lenses and co-managing LASIK patients in Atlanta, Georgia.

Specialty Optometry Vision Care
He managed complicated ocular diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy at Veteran Affairs Hospitals in Hudson Valley, New York, and Portland. He also cared for an under-served population at Boston’s Upham’s Corner Community Health Center.
Following graduation, Dr. Chavoustie was privileged enough to be accepted into the Ocular Disease Residency Program at the Boston Veteran’s Affairs Hospital System. He further enhanced his knowledge regarding glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and many other ocular diseases. During this time, he worked closely with globally-renowned specialists in glaucoma, retinal and corneal diseases.

He was also involved in the mentoring and teaching of 3rd and 4th-year optometry students and the handling of urgent cases referred from the hospital system’s emergency rooms.
When not in the office, Dr. Chavoustie enjoys exploring all that Burlington offers with his wife and their 2 young children.
